Bohemian FC is delighted to confirm that defender Leigh Kavanagh has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2027 season.
The centre-back, 21, joined from Brighton during the July transfer window last season, and quickly established himself as a regular in Alan Reynolds’ side.
He started 11 of Bohs’ opening 12 games this season before suffering a hamstring injury in last month’s victory over St Patrick’s Athletic.
Available for selection once more, Reynolds is delighted that the former Bray Wanderers man has committed his future to the club, and is backing him to push on further.
Reynolds said: “Leigh is a top quality centre-half. He came into the club midway through last season in what was a difficult year for the club but that experience is really standing to him this season and he has really impressed for us.
“He’s still learning, but is constantly improving and working hard to kick on even further. He’s big, strong and a commanding centre-half. He has a big future ahead of him, and Bohs is the right place for him to develop into a really important player.
“We have a great group of young and talented players at the club now who love it here, who are clicking now, who want to learn and develop, and who are pushing each other on. Leigh is one of them.
“These are young lads who are really thriving on the backing that they’ve been getting from the stands over the past couple of months. They are young, they will make mistakes and, as I’ve said before, there’ll be bumps along the road.

“But I think our fans see the commitment they have to the club and how they are striving to push on in every game they play. They are all striving to match and better the standards we set ourselves so, just like with James McManus last week, we are delighted that Leigh has committed his future here.”
Kavanagh said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign the deal and extend my stay here at Dalymount. It’s been a great start to the season heading into the halfway point in a good position to push on after the break.
“We’ve got a very good squad to push on for the rest of the season and the future with a great mix of young exciting players and some players with massive experience across the league. I’m really looking forward to the future here.”
