Bohemian FC @ Phizzfest

May 8, 2025

Phizzfest returns this weekend and included among the packed programme across the three days are three Bohs-related events.

On Friday evening at 6pm in the Bohemian (McGeough’s), club historian Gerard Farrell will give a talk on the alternative uses of Dalymount from 1901 to 1970 including a wide variety of other sports, cultural events, carnivals and plenty of the weird and wonderful.

Brian McMahon, author of Brand New Retro and resident stadium vinyl DJ at Bohemian FC, will discuss the many-fabled rock concerts held at Dalymount between 1977 and 1995.

This is a ticketed event, with tickets (€5) available here.

On Saturday morning at 11am, club historian Gerry Farrell is on duty once more as, over the course of 90 minutes, you will learn about Dalymount’s rise to one of the best stadiums in Ireland, from its famous architect, to the great players who graced its pitch, and its wild and raucous existence as an entertainment venue.

This is a free event but you must register in advance here.

Finally, on Sunday evening at 7pm in the Mono Bar at Dalymount Park, there will be a lively discussion that covers the growth of Bohemian FC in the Free State, referring to key events and personalities in the club’s history and social history and its impact on Phibsborough and the wider area. The panel will include Gerry Farrell; Dr Gerri O’Neill, DCU history tutor and former Bohemian FC PRO; and Brian Trench, retired DCU lecturer and former Bohemian FC PRO.

This is a ticketed event, with tickets (€5) available here.
