Seán Sheehy RIP
Bohemian FC is saddened to learn about the passing of our former player Seán Sheehy.
He signed for Bohs October 1974. A former Ireland Under-23 international, his cross-channel experience was with Preston, Norwich, and Dundee United.
While his time with Bohemians was brief, he was part of an exceptional team which won the League title, the League Cup and Leinster Senior Cup in the 1974-75 season.
He contributed five goals from 15 League games that season and scored the goal that clinched the title for Bohs in a 1-0 win over Athlone, the club’s first in almost 40 years.
Seán was brought back to Dundalk for the 1975/76 season, where he had enjoyed much early success, by Jim McLaughlin. He scored an 81st minute equaliser on his return to Dalymount for Dundalk in November 1975.
Seán was part of the group of players honoured at our Aviva Stadium win over Shamrock Rovers as well as our first home fixture against Drogheda United marking the 50th anniversary of the 1975 league title.
