Bohemian FC is delighted to announce the signing of right-back Darragh Power from Cheltenham Town.
The 24-year-old has spent the past 12 months with the English League Two side, making 33 first-team appearances.
From Kilmacthomas in Waterford, Power returns to the League of Ireland where he previously made over 140 first-team appearances for Waterford between making his league debut on the final day of the 2019 season and his departure in 2024.
Power will be the ninth new arrival at Dalymount Park ahead of the 2026 season following the additions of Patrick Hickey (Galway United), Sam Todd (Derry City), Hugh Martin (UCD), Harry Vaughan (Hull City, loan), Ryan Burke (Waterford), Paul Walters (FC Cincinnati, loan), Sadou Diallo (Derry City) and Senan Cullen (Torino, loan).
Welcoming Power to Dalymount Park, manager Alan Reynolds said: “Darragh is one we have been working on getting for the past four or five weeks.
“He made it clear he wanted to come to Bohs after turning down offers elsewhere, both here and in England.
“This club has had some fantastic full-backs going back decades and I think Darragh has the potential to be another one of those.
“He’s obviously a player I worked with at Waterford. He is a tenacious right-back who likes to get forward.
“He has a great mentality and is a super professional and from speaking to him, I know that he has a real hunger to come back to the league, do well and push on.”
Power said: “I’m delighted to be here. I have been speaking to Rennie on and off over the couple of months, so I’m very happy that it’s finally over the line.
“Last time I worked with Rennie, we won promotion from the First Division so I’ve had good success working with him.
“It was important to come to a place where I am wanted and having worked with Rennie, he knows how to get the very best out of me, so I am really looking forward to getting started.
“I think my year in England will stand to me coming to Bohs too. I had a really good year with Cheltenham, I loved it there and I wish them all the very best for the future.
“I’m a home bird at heart so when the chance came to come back to Ireland and work with Rennie again, I jumped at the opportunity.
“We are obviously all looking forward to our first game now. I’ve never played at the Aviva Stadium before, so I am hoping I will get that opportunity. Most players never get to do that during their career so I’ll be doing everything I can to get into the team.
“I’m coming over fit and in-season, so I feel I’ll be ready to hit the ground running. There is a good group of lads here, I know from playing against them over the years, so I’m looking forward to getting going with them now.”
