Alan Reynolds has called for energy on the pitch and in the stands as Bohemians target a big win in tonight’s Dublin derby against St Patrick’s Athletic at Dalymount Park.
Bohs come into the game kicking themselves after their 2-0 defeat away to Galway United on Friday night, and Reynolds is demanding a response tonight.
Reynolds’ side thought they had taken the lead in the fifth minute when Rob Cornwall rose to head to the back of the net following a Dayle Rooney corner that was deftly flicked into the six-yard box by James Clarke but the goal was disallowed after the Bohs No 5 was adjudged to have fouled a Galway defender.
Bohs were left to rue that call as despite some positive play in the first half, they found themselves a goal down a half-hour later, and then found themselves with a mountain to climb when Galway extended their lead 14 minutes into the second half from the penalty spot.
Reynolds said: “Obviously if that goal had stood it could have been a different game but there are no excuses from us.
“That was five minutes into a 90-minute game so we had plenty of time to assert ourselves but we didn’t.
“We had some good play in the first half and Galway’s goal came against the run of play but we didn’t work their keeper or ask enough questions of their defenders and our performance levels in the second half in particular weren’t good enough.
“We can’t dwell on it – we have to put it right quickly.”

Reynolds expects a reaction from his players as they host tonight.
Reynolds said: “It’s a massive game for us. It’s been a long season with plenty of ups and downs and we need to give everything of ourselves to ensure it’s ups from here on in.
“We can’t look back, we have to keep looking forward and be laser-focused in everything we do. We are at home and we have to make that count.
“We know how good St Pat’s can be, we got another reminder of that with the win and performance they had against Shamrock Rovers on Friday.
“We need to focus on ourselves, our own performance and on doing everything to get the win. We need to show guts, and we need to fight for everything.
“That means we need energy and passion on the pitch from the off and we need energy and passion in the stands too.
“It’s a Monday night game, it’s been a dreary day but we need our fans to get right behind the team from the first minute to the last tonight. We know how important this game is, and we need the place rocking again.
“On the pitch and off the pitch, everybody at this club all wants the same thing. We all want to get this club back into Europe, and we all have jobs to do to get there.”
Douglas James-Taylor (hamstring) is a doubt.
