Bohemian FC is delighted to confirm the appointment of Alan Murphy as manager of our women’s team.
The former Shelbourne and Dundalk midfielder has served the club as assistant manager for the past two seasons, first to Ken Kiernan in 2024 and to Alban Hysa in 2025.
He was part of the backroom team that guided Bohs to two national cup finals last season.
Murphy said: “I am really excited. It’s been a hectic week, and we have plenty of work to get stuck into. I’m really looking forward to the season getting started now.
“I spoke to Pat Fenlon during the week. I’ve obviously been around the club now for a couple of years under a couple of different managers.
“This is one of the biggest clubs in Ireland. There is great pressure at this club but I know the girls here very well so it is a challenge that I am really excited to jump into.
“The challenge for us now as a group is to be consistent. We have shown that we are a good team and that we have some really good quality, but the challenge is consistency and I am hoping that I can be the link that delivers that consistency.
“This will be my third year at the club working with the girls, I know how this place works and I know how the girls operate.
“I have loved being assistant manager here. Knowing the group will make the jump easier, so I can’t wait to get stuck in and start the hard work.
“The girls will be the ones who drive us forward. We try to improve them as players and as people and my challenge will be how they react to a new way of working with me and my staff.
“We want to drive things on and these players want to prove to themselves that they are a force to be reckoned with. We showed we can be last season by getting to two cup finals but the challenge now will be to be more consistent and to show we are proper top tier challengers in this country.
“The reaction has been positive. I’m delighted that the group from last season has remained intact. They know how I work, they know me as a person so that makes that handover a little bit easier.
“There is an excitement in the group, and there is a feeling there that they can push on even further.”
Club president Matt Devaney said: “We are delighted to appoint Alan to this role. He has served the club so well as assistant manager over the past two years and this is a natural progression for him.
“He played a huge part in the team’s progression last season and we are delighted that he has agreed to take on the challenge of building on that.”
Bohemians’ SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division campaign kicks off away to Peamount United on Saturday March 14.
Bohs’ first home game of the new season will see them host Cork City at Dalmount Park on Saturday March 21.
Their final Dalymount Park fixture of the season will be a derby against Shamrock Rovers on Saturday October 24.
