Bohemian FC is delighted to announce that midfielder Adam McDonnell has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2027 season.
The 28-year-old joined from Sligo Rovers in November 2022, and has played 111 games in his three seasons at the club.
Manager Alan Reynolds said: “Adam has been a really important player for the club for a number of seasons now, but I really think he came to the fore this year in particular.
“He’s a big part of the reason we qualified for Europe. I feel he’s really grown as a player and as a leader in midfield. He stood up and made himself be counted in difficult games this season.
“He’s a local lad from Blanchardstown too and I think fans can see from the effort he gives on the pitch how much playing for the club means to him, so we are delighted that he has committed his future to the club.”
McDonnell said: “I’m absolutely delighted to re-sign. I’ve had a brilliant three seasons here, I’m really looking forward to the years ahead and what we are striving to achieve.
“I love playing for this club. I’ve played over 100 games here but the excitement never wears off – it’s still the same feeling every time I walk out on to the pitch.
“Since I’ve come here, we have been striving to qualify for Europe. We missed out in my first season on the last day and in the cup final, so to get over the line this year means the world to everyone at the club and to us as players. It’s where we want Bohs to be and we are really looking forward to that challenge.

“Between qualifying for Europe and the news about Dalymount getting the funding to be redeveloped, I think it’s a really exciting time to be a Bohs fan and it’s the same for us as players. We all want to be a part of it.
“I was at Sligo at the time but I know how much the run Bohs had in 2021 meant to the players here at the time and to the supporters. But I know from talking to the lads who were here at the time how frustrating it was for fans not being able to travel with the club in 2020 and 2021 because of Covid, so that’s something we are all really looking forward to – having our fans travelling in big numbers to Europe.
“For many Bohs fans, it’ll be their first time travelling to see the club playing in Europe so I’m really excited and proud that I’ll be a part of that.”
