| Bohemians in partnership with St. Michael's House |
|
St. Michael’s House is Bohemian Football Club’s associate charity partner for 2009 and 2010.
St. Michael's House is one of Ireland’s largest providers of community-based services for people with an intellectual disability. The main goals of the partnership are to raise awareness of St. Michael’s House among Bohemians supporters and promote Bohemian FC among service uses and supporters of St. Michael’s House, but also to raise vital funds towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible bus for the service, which will cost about €60,000.
Fundraising initiatives have included bucket collections, a prize draw raffle and a very successful summer family day (July 2009) for St. Michael’s House service users and community members.
Barbara Wiseman, Head of Fundraising, St Michael’s House commented: “We are thrilled to be partnered with Bohemians for 2009 and 2010. All of us at St. Michael’s House are huge fans of the team, our Ballymun Centre being located at the back of DCU sports grounds where they train! We are honoured to have their support and are sure the partnership will help immensely with raising the essential funds we need for our intellectual disability services.”
Robert Dunne, President of Bohemians commented: “Bohemians is proud of its identity as a club in the community and this partnership with St. Michael’s House expresses well our community orientation. We look forward to welcoming people associated with St. Michael’s House to matches at Dalymount Park, and we hope our supporters will contribute generously to match-day collections.”
St Michael's House is a community-based voluntary organisation.
